POVERTY BAY CLUB ■) WAIROA-TOLAGA VISIT CLUB COMPETITKDNS The weather favoured (lie Poverty Bay Golf Club during the week-end when the. Wairoa and Tolaga Bay golf clubs were represented on the A.wapuni link.--in the annual inter i lull mulches. There were 29 players in the Wairoa. team, and 19 from Tolaga. Bay. The Poverty Bay club will retiiiii the visit lo Wairoa in two weeks. Fourball matches were played in the morning and singles in the alternoon and the members of Hie Poverty Bay club won both competitions. All games, were played on a handicap basis. Although the local players, had the advantage of a knowledge of -the course, there were many keenly contested games. The. best gross scores handed in were those of F. Femvick 72. C. (). Hansen 73, and IT. Crichton (Wairoa) 79. Hansen produced fine form in a fourball match he played with Ki. Jenkinson against D. V. Thomas and B. M. Mowaf (Wairoa) and a. net. score of 63 was- too much for the visitors. In the absence oi' the captain, Mr. R. IJ. Burke, the visitors were welcomed by Dr. F. Kahlonberg and lie also made the presentation of a. pewter tankard, bearing the club’s crest, to H. -Crichton, who won Hie Stableford bogey match arranged for the visitors. The runner-up. 11.
