GISBORNE CLUB A further race of the Gisborne Flying Club’s old bird season was held on .Saturday' from Thames, an airline distance of 172 miles. Slow times were registered, but considering the head wind and the Hying conditions- that the birds encountered the velocities were satisfactory. The winning bird covered the distance in 4hr. 53min. 40sec. Results were as follow : Summer Loft’s Alars. 1030.6vds per min.. 1; A. Bound s Black Adder, 1030.5yds per min., 2; F. Green's- Melody. 1050.3yds per min.. 3; A. O’Neill’s Little Scott, 1029.5yds per min., 4; J. Barbour’s Flying Glance, 1024.4yds per min., 5. POVERTY BAY SOCIETY RACE FROM WOODY I LEE A race was held oil Saturday by the Poverty Bay Homing Pigeon Society from Yvoodville to Gisborne, an airline distance of 163 miles. There was an entry of 64 birds, representing 14 lofts, and a- close race resulted. The first bird timed in belonged to F. Dunstau and its time was 4hr. 33niin. 46see., a velocity of 1051yds per minute. Results are as follow : F. Dunstau'-' Starlight-, 1051yds per min., 1: A. AlcLauchlan’s Unnamed, 1048.8yds per min., 2; W. Marshall’s Tyne Lad, 1047. (yds per min., 5; J. Alartin’s Blue Shadow and Flash, 1047yds per min., equal, 4; W. Jonasen’s High Feast, 1045.7yds per min., 6; C. Corbett’s Dark Cloud, 1045.4yds per min.. 7. A further race will be held next Saturday from AVellington, an airline distance of 250 miles.
