POVERTY BAY CLUB MR,' IT. MARTIN FAREWELLED Despite the bitterly cold conditions on Saturday afternoon, 30 players braved tike weather and had their usual weekly recreation at the Poverty Bay Bowling Club’s green. During the tea adjournment the president, Mr. A. Slight, briefly farewelled the inspector of police, Mr. H. Martin, on behalf of the club, expressing the regret of members at the inspectors coming departure from the district and consequent loss to the club. The president also notified members that the committee, had decided to hold the official opening on October 3, so as to fall in line with other town clubs. GISBORNE CLUB NEW MEMBERS ELECTED l’lay on the Gisborne Bowling Club’s green on Saturday was keen and interesting, pick-up games being indulged in by a number of bowlers, the results being as under: — Robb, Peat, and A. Hay (s) 23 v. Smart, McGregor, and Henderson (s) 19. Sell, Nelson, Gardner, and' Hartley (s) 19 v. Butcher, Gilmer, Waite, and Williams (s] 18. Percy, Walker, arid Patrick (s) 25 v. OUlrien,. Gandell, and Crawford :s) 21. Chrisp and Miller (s) 20 v. Zaffeiaml McCulloch (s) 36. Richardson, Young, and T. Hay ;s) 14 v. Green, Jennings, and Johnson (s) 26. At a meeting of the executive, MessrsJ. M. Park, L. Albrecht, G. McKcssar, G. Solvander, and F. W. Roberts were elected active members. KAHUTIA CLUB CHALLENGE PAIRS MATCH A challenge pairs match on the Kaliutia green on Saturday attracted a good deal of attention.; Murray and Branch, of the Gisborne Club, meeting Dudfield and Jenkins, Kabutia, and scoring an easy win against the homesters. Pickup fours were the order of the- afternoon otherwise,' one match having to go to an extra head for decision. Details of the scoring were as under: Murray and Branch, Gisborne, 33 v.
