SCOUT MOVEMENT

INTEREST IN RUATORIA GOOD WORK BEING DONE (Herald Correspondent.} Much interest is being taken in the Boy Scout movement in Ruatoria and alreadv there is a great difference in the young hoys as regards being idle and getting into" mischief. For instance, a few days ago a young Boy Scout offered to carry parcels' for a lady and walked tour miles to do his "good deed."

The other night a Scout meeting was held and among those present were Mesdames Little. .J. M. Meffa.il>, Hogaii, Rawson, R. 11. Wicksteed, K. Milner, Kiiiwai, Mullooley. McKinnon, Hickey, and 11. F. Smvt'he : Misses McKinnon. D. Mickey and' D. 1. Smyth*; Messrs. K. Milner..!. M. Mclfan. Billiard, Little. R. 11. Wicksteed and 11. Thatcher. Miss M. Redin, I'alinerston. North, the scout master. Mr. Little, and 16 Scouts gave a very interesting display of first aid and signalling. This is a preliminary to a big Scout evening which will he lick! later." The troop is a great credit to the Scoutmaster considering the very short time it has been in existence, and all the boys show great keenness and interest in the work.
