SISTER SHIP HOPED
LINER AWATEA AUCKLAND CEREMONY (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. At a largely-attended luncheon a'board the Union Steam Ship Company's vessel, the Awatea, tendered by the directors of the company, the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, paid tribute to the enterprise of the company, and said the entry of the Awatea into 'the trans-Tasman run should result in such a development of traffic as would encourage the company to build a sister ship. On behalf of the citizens of Auckland, he presented Captain Dayey with a handsome specimen of Maori carving as an emblem of goodwill. Other speakers enthusiastically congratulated the company on its enterprise.
