BRITISH PROPOSAL VALUE OF THREE PENCE BIGGER THAN SIXPENCE (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sept. 18, noon) LONDON, Sept. 17. •The authorities- of the Royal Mini have submitted proposals for a threepenny piece to the Treasury. If a Royal proclamation sanctions it, the coin will be issued shortly.

It is proposed that it will be. made, ot metal not, previously used iu British coinage, but, will not, be silver, bronze or nickel. It will be slightly larger than a' sixpence.

Its fate will depend on the public. It may prove popular, or it- may share the fate of the old four-shilling piece. ' The object, in providing the new coin is to avoid the. use of heavy coppers.
