MURIWAI NEWS

SCHOOL COMMITTEE (Herald Correspondent.) On Thursday evening the monthly meeting of the Muriwai School Committee was held, Mr* J. Devery, the chairman, presiding. The headmaster reported on the staffing changes and on the slightly increased roll number. Accounts totalling £5 13s were passed for payment, and minor repairs to the school authorised. The balance sheet of the fancy dress ball and bazaar held just prior to the vacation was submitted. Tho balance in hand after all expenses had been met was £27 6s lid. The committee decided to obtain a radio receiving set for the school and to purchase some books to augment the school library. Pleasure was expressed by members ot the committee at the financial result of the functions mentioned, and thanks were recorded to all those who in any way had assisted in the productions. The ladies of the district were particularly thanked for their generous assistance.

Mrs. IT. Carlton Williams has returned to Muriwai after visiting relatives in Auckland.—Miss Bay Egerton, Remuera, Auckland, is spending a short vacation with her sister, Mrs. C. 11. Williams,

“Coventry.”—The two children. Niki l’ohatu and Barbara Ross, both of whom have been in hospital suffering from pneumonic influenza, have returned home and are progressing well.—Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Black have returned from a vacation lour in Canada.
