W.T. CARD EVENING'

flie fgnds of the Waerenga-a-hika Women’s Institute were considerably augmented on Wednesday evening, when a cheery card tournament was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Torrie. The occasion was the last of the series being held this season. Card tables were arranged in the spacious dining-room, which was decorated with bowls of spring flowers. Play was very keen, several tieing for ‘ the prizes. The results- were: — Ladies: Mrs. H. Ingram, 1. Gentlemen: Mr. R. Warrington, 1. Mrs. W. Torrie and Mr. W. Clark also were awarded prizes. Aggregate prizes were presented for the series of six evenings, the winners being Mrs. li. Ingram and Mr. W. Toi#ie.

A delicious supper was served informally by the institute members. The president, Mrs. A. Barrow, on behalf of the institute, thanked Mr. and Mrs. W. Torrie for their hospitality during the season, in placing their some at the disposal of the institute.

Those present included Mesdames A. Barrow, J. B. Greig, O. O’Connell, W. Torrie, F. McKenzie, H. Ingram and Newman; Misses F. Jennings, E. Me Kenzie and A. Torrie.

Miss B. Mullan, who was recently the guest of Mrs. F. Twisleton, Motu, has returned home.—Mr. A. Brown has returned from a brief visit to Wellington.
