GAMES ON THE OVAL A LARUE GATHERING THE EARLY RESULTS •a There was a blaze of colour on the Oval to-day at the combined primary school sports for the majority of the children were wearing their school representative colours. Twelve schools were represented—seven town schools, Gisborne Central, Mungapapa, Kaiti, Te Hapara, Awapuni, Marist, and Convent, and five from the country, Makauri, Manutuke, Patutahi, Makaraka, and Ormond. The children entered into the games of Rugby, basketball, tug-o ’-war, and tunnelball in the best of competitive spirit, and a number of parents present were making a picnic day of it. Early results were:— TUG-O ’-AVAR. Open.—First round: Marist beat Makaraka; Gisborne beat Ormond. Under 13. —First round: Manutuke beat. Mungapapa A; Makaraka beat Te Hapara. TUNNELBALL.
