The Associated Press understands that, while the new freight eoulrael between New Zealand and the overseas shipping companies has not yet been signed, the freight rates and other important details are fully agreed upon and only minor matters, such as the phraseology, are outstanding-. The terms are likely to be announced within 10 days. It is generally considered that the shipping companies, who are faced with heavier expenditures, have met the position in a most reasonable spirit. The representatives Of the primary producers have not got all tliqy wanted, but are well satisfied with the agreement. It is understood that there were no drastic changes, especially in the freight rates, which .are more or less a continuation of the agreement expiring on Monday. RATES 21 PER CENT UP ALL REFRIGERATED CARGO TERMS FOR THREE YEARS (Por Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. It was announced last evening by the Minister of Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash, that as the result of negotiations between overseas shipping companies and representatives of the New Zealand Government and the New Zealand Meat Board, a new shipping freight contract had been signed -covering all refrigerated cargo exported from the Dominion to Britain and other destinations covered by the terms of the contract, which will remain effective for three years.

The new rates represent an increase of approximately 24 per cent over the present rates.
