RELIEF IN SOME AREAS RAIN STOPS HARVESTING (HJec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.J OTTAWA, Aug. 25. .Recent rains partially relieved the drought in south-western Ontario, southern' Manitoba, south-western Saskatchewan and adjoining areas in Alberta, states the crop report of the Bureau of Statistics. Harvesting was nearing completion, although it had been generally interrupted by showery weather. The wheat deliveries were increasing and would soon reach the peak. The quality was good and the protein, content extremely high. Canadian wheat in store for the week ended August 21 has increased by more than 15,000,000 bushels over the previous week, but has dropped more than 70,000,;000 bushels compared with the corresponding week of last year. Walsh, said that because of the calamitous drought im the south and the east of the province, and the grave economic, conditions .arising from it, the Government had decided to call a special session to deal with distressing conditions, and to consider such legislation as would place the province in a position to cope with the difficult situation. Further action in regard to the introduction of social credit principles, debt adjustment, the reduction of interest, and other such matters deemed necessary, is lacking.
