■ FESTIVAL OF LAUOHTER (Herald Correspondent.) A very successful and unique entertainment was held in the Waikohu Ilah on Wednesday evening in ai‘d of the school and library funds. The programme opened with an hour's dancing, during which the non-dancers competed for the Waikohu flag fivehundred championship. The champions were Mr. and Mrs. J. 1). Clark, Aliss Dixon and Mi-. K. Morris. Then 12 couples competed for I ho Waikohu waltzing championship, in which Mrs. M. 111-own and Air. 11. Sydney were the winners, Miss Tougher and Air. hi. llobinson second, and Mr. and Aliss Steel third. The third item was the Waikolm fox trot championship. This was won by Miss Steel and Air. Ilobbs, nominated by Messrs. (J. Keane. I), ('lark, I!. MeConley and R. Stephenson ; and Mr. Charles'.Mills, nominated by Messrs H. Scott. A. Lucas. S. Smithers and VV. Nesbitt. Mr. F. Jfobhs addressed j tlio meeting and promised that if elected he would introduce all manner of : slcctrio facilities, including an electric self-balancing budget. Mr. Mills proclaimed his platform of "Health, wealth ; and happiness," with only Tj. hours' work a day. Mr. E. Ribbon based his j platform on the "Digless" credit system, under which all would be happy for ever ' afterwards. Mr. A. A. I-Yiiser was in ihe chair and ably controlled the meeting. A vole of thanks to him concluded the meeting. Mr. iiarnshaw was the M.C and the organiser of the gathering, and owing to his humour everyone went home happy.
