"TOFFEE-TIN" SEALS
£3OOO FRAUDS ALLEGED LONDON, March !». It was alleged, at Leeds Police Court, yesterday, that a fictitious document, purporting to bo an insurance policy, bore paper seals taken from toffee tins. Tn the dock were Griffith John Thomas, 42, charged with false pretences and conspiring with Donald J. .1. Mcpherson', 32, who was charged with conspiracy only. Thomas, it was stated, was arrested on a charge of obtaining £lO from Mr, .1. Foster, of Gledhow Wood avenue, Leeds, by false pretences. During 13 years he had obtained £3OOO from Mr. Foster. This involved the alleged forging of tho document. Both men were remanded for a week in custody.
