TREATY HOUSE OPENED
CEREMONY IN THE NORTH A.AOTII COMPETITIONS A large crowd was present at Bradley's Landing, near Dargaville. on Monday. or the. opening of the treaty house {angikui'iikimi, named alter one of the ■arly members of the Topia family. The reaty house, which is about 18ft. by f2ft. and about 10ft. high, is of corni;ated iron with a kauri floor. The in.erior lias been lined with vaupo in the ijiproved style of the early Maori meeting houses, and the front entrance* and walls are decorated with carvings. Great interest centred in (be native singing and ■ dancing competitions, between competitors from litakura, near Jkaihau. Mangakahia. Repia, Naumai, llurei, Tangiteroria. and Kaihu. The I'angiteroria Maoris won the senior haka iompetition for the Coates Cup, donated by the HI. Hon. J. G. Coates. and the fopia Cup for senior poi dancing, 'the Itakura natives were awarded the junior cup. The cups will be competed for each faster at Bradley's Lauding
