FORMER BANK MANAGER
DEATH IN DUNEDIN AMMONIA THROWING CASE The death of Mr. Charles Alfred Thompson, formerly a bank manager in the employ of" the Hank- of New Zealand, recalls an ammonia-throwing episode of four years ago. When manager of the North Dunedin branch of the bank Mr. Thompson paid a visit to the North East Valley branch, and about the time the bank closed for lunch a man knocked at the door. When Mr. Thompson opened the door he was overcome by a quantity of ammonia squirted in his face. As a result of the attack his health was affected aiul Ms eyesight was permanently impaired. Two years ago he retired from the bank's service.
