A certain amount of metal patching is in progress on the Napier end of the route. while valuable work is being carried )ii in the vicinity of the Glengarry cutting in the direction of improving n-nds and sharp turns, bill a great leal of work will be required before he road is restored to anything approaching reasonably good order. A stretch of about three miles between the Waikato River and about iftlf-a-mine past the Terraces Hotel, m the Napier road, has been liir<ealed. The work has resulted in a ivelcoriie improvement, and has also :erved to abate- the dttst nuisance A'hieh prevailed ill the vicinity of he cottages previously.
