ALL-FRUIT DIET
MAN STARVED SHOWED DOCTOR THE DOOR PORTSMOUTH, Jan. 2. Reginald Stansmor'e, 44, a retired naval man, of Chelsea road, Southsea, lived on a strict diet. He always catered for himself. He would eat no meat. He lived entirely on fruit.
On December 21 he asked Miss Mabel 'Stansmore, the sister with whom he lived, to telephone for a doctor, lie gave no reason for the summons. Ho went to bed. Dr. Alan Fleming was called in. He told 'Stansmore that he was suffering from starvation. He prescribed nourishment. 'Mr. Stansmore heard the diagnosis, paid the fee, and showed the doctor the door. lie got up the next day. lie went shopping. He returned home and collapsed on the floor. He died on Christmas Day. Death was due to pneumonia and malnutrition, and a verdict of “Death by misadventure” was returned at the inquest to-day. ■ ' ‘
