FATAL FALL FROM TRAIN
LATE MR. MANHIRE LONG PUBLIC RECORD (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Mr Alfred Manhire, who was killed by falling from the Limited ,at Otaki last night, lived in Papanui, Christchurch, and was chairman of (ho Waimakariri River Trust. He was travelling north to spend Christmas with his , sort at Penrose, whither his wife had preceded him. He was formerly employed as an inspector of the National Mutual Life Association of Australasia. The deceased was G 7 years of age. He had been prominent on local bodies, and in addition to being a foundation member of the Wuimakariri River Trust was a past Mayor of Spreydon and an ex-member of the Christchurch City Council. Tic was a prospective Independent candidate for the Christchurch North seat at the next election.
