ORMOND W.I.

GARDENING CIRCLE MEETS The monthly meeting of the gardening circle of the Ormond Women’s Institute was held in the picturesque and historic garden of Mrs. and Miss Jennings, Wae-renga-a-hika. There was a large attendance of members, over whom Mrs. Moore presided. It was agreed that a held day should be held at Gray’s Bush in January, and that the Whatatutu and Wharerata gardening circles should bo invited to attend. Mrs. G. M. Reynolds wrote donating a cheque to tile winner gaining most points in tlie recent flower show, and members expressed appreciation at Mrs. Reynolds’ action. A demonstration of making fern baskets out of wire-netting was given by Mrs. Moore, and the basket made was afterwards presented to Mrs. G. Jones as the winner of the competition for the jug of any flowers. Mesdames Snowsill and Lovelock tied for second place, with Mrs. C. Long third. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Moore for her demonstration, and also to Mrs. and Miss Jennings for the use of the garden, which was the subject of admiration by members, who enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon.

Under the shelter of the trees, a dainty afternoon tea was served. The hostesses were Miss Jennings and Mrs. Newman, assisted by Miss I). Newman. The singing of the institute ode brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close.
