RAPID JOLTING
WELLINGTON ’QUAKE LITTLE DAMAGE REPORTED (Pur Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. A sharp earthquake was felt in Wellington at approximately 8.15 p.m., and was placed at intensity as No. 6 on the Rossi-Forel scale. It lasted sevpn or eight seconds, the effect.being a rapid jolting without any pronounced swing or sway. An official at Kelburn Observatory, where two instruments were put out ot action, was of opinion that the centrd of the earthquake was very close toj Wellington. Little damage is reported, •apart from dislodging goods in some shops. In most picture theatres, some people, rose to their feet, and a few left the buildings. PELT IN BLENHEIM (Par Press Association.) BLENHEIM, last night. A sharp earthquake jolt was felt at 8.15 p.m. in the direction of north and south. The movement was about No. 4 on the Rossi-Forel scale.
