VICTIM OF FLOODS
FARMER DROWNED N. AUCKLAND TRAGEDY(Por Press Association.) OABGAVIBLE, this day. The first fatality in connection with tlm recent severe Hoods in the district happened last night, when a wellknown farmer, Mr Miter (to, of .K.irikopuni, lost his life. The deceased, who was riding a horse, was wearing a heavy overcoat and gum hoots, and was proceeding from Kirikopuni to Tnngitororift, where there is still a good depth of water on the road. In endeavoring (o force the horse through a fairly dee]) place, the horse threw the rider, the bridle came away in his hand, and 'Mr Baldwin was washed away. A settler, Mr W. 'Taylor, who witnessed the accident, put, om in a boat, hut found no trace. Bader, some Maoris joined in the search, hut were unsuccessful. The body was found in an adjoining paddock this morning. M.r Baldwin served in the Great War, where he had two sons killed.
