SINGERS’ HOMES SEARCHED EXODUS TO BERLIN (Received December 14, 11 a.m.) VIENNA, Dec. 13. The opera war has been extended. llerr Felix Weingartner succeeds Herr Rrauss as director of the Vienna State Opera. Several Viennese opera singers whose homes the police searched owing to their being suspected of Nazi-ism, are resigning and joining the Berlin State Opera. Herr Krauss’ acceptance of General Goering’s invitation to succeed Dr. Furtwangler is greatly resented in Vienna. German secret police confiscated Dr. Furtwangler’s and Dr. Kleiber’s passports to prevent them abroad.
