RETURNING TO CAMP
ANTARCTIC EXPLORERS TRACTOR ABA NDONED (Received Dee. 14', 3 p.m.)' LITTLE AMERICA, Dec. 13. The tractor party is en route hack to camp after a perilous exploration of Marie Byrd Land. It reported that one of tiie two machines was so seriously damaged that- it was necessary to abandon it. The five members of the crew will join the others and return with the single tractor. The accident consisted of a punctured crank case, and, ironically,,crime after the two machines bad successfully traversed the dangerous crevasse area. M eanwhile, the sledging party is also returning to the* camp, approaching the tractor party from the west.
