MINIATURE AIR RACE
AUSTRALIAN PAGEANT SIX PLANES COMPETE {Received Nov. 20. noon) .SYDNEY, Nov. 10. At the air pageant at. Cootamundra to-day, the chief event was the air race from Melbourne to Cootamundra, 2SG miles, for which there were six starters, including Squadron-Leader Stodart and his nephew, Sergeant Stodart. All the competitors had reached their destinations by 2.30 p.m. The first prize in the speed section is £IOO. The first to arrive was Mr. 11. J. Broadbent, flying a D.II. MoGi. Ho left Melbourne at 11.7 a.m. and arrived at Cootamundra at 1.30 p.m. The remaining five arrived at brief intervals thereafter as follows: Mr. G. Goon, Mr. C. Butler, Squadron-Leader Stodart, Mr. K. Farmer, and Mr. J. Cook. Squadron-Leader Stodart won both the speed and handicap sections of the race, completing the 286 miles in lhr. 56min. As the rules precluded him from taking both prizes, the first prize in the handicap event has been awarded to Mr. A. Butler.
