GOLF CONTROVERSY
AMERICANS’ TOUR BAN ON EXHIBITION (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Tress Assn.) MELBOURNE, Nov. 2. The prospects of an international golf disagreement were strengthened ro-dny, when Kirkwood affirmed his determination to play an exhibition mutch with Sarazen to-morrow. “Sure I am in a tough spot,’’ said Sarazen on arrival to-day. He explained that he was •under contract to Kirkwood, who was guaranteeing the tour. Sarazen said he could not afford to lose the guarantee. However, he came to play golf, not to fight. It is understood that Sarazen is keen to play in the centenary championship. Kirkwood claims that lie engaged Sarazen for a world tour, and did not come specially for the championships.
The Golf Association maintains that Kirkwood and Sarazen will not bo allowed to play in the champion ship if an exhibition match is played.
