Considerable interest was taken in n battered bugle which was on view at a reunion of mcm hers of the South African War Veterans’ Association hold in Timaru recently. The bugle had been used bv Trumpeter D. Johnson, of the First Contingent, in the South African War. After having been in many engagements it found its way back to New Zealand and was discovered some little time ago in an auction sale at Waimate by Mr. R. Moore, who generously presented it to the association.
