NEARING A CLIMAX
GERMAN CHURCH WAR GROWING OPPOSITION (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Oet. 15, 2 p.m.) BERLIN, Oct. 14. The battle between Nazi German Christians and 8000 dissident pastors is reaching a climax of fierceness, owing to secret police shadowing the bishops of Bavaria and Wurtemberg. The Reichbisho'p, Dr. Mueller, spent the week-end on his Silesian estate, while pastors throughout the country protested in almost unprecedented language, nearly all referring to an opposition manifesto, the distribtuion of which the police prevented. The congregation, overflowing into the rainswept street, struggled to hear Bisho'p Niemoller endorse, the manifesto.
At Munich, pastors denouncing Muellcrites as allies of heresy who were laying waste the house of Clod, hurled defiance at Herr Jaeger’s forcible domination of the Bavarian Church. Subscriptions were taken up to support allegiance to Bishop Meiser, whose continuance in office is demanded. . _
