After breaking the world’s landaeroplane speed record in the national air race?, here towlav with a speed of 300.215 rn.p.h., Mr Douglas Davis crashed during the Thompson Speed Trophy Race and was killed. Mr Davis crashed while leading in the race. Ills body was found eight miles from the course with his parachute strapped to his hack. The winner of the race was Colonel Roseoc Turner, an American flyer. fl was stated by officials that Mr. Douglas’ speed would not be recognised ns a record, as it did not exceed the previous record of 504.93 m.p.li. by the margin of 4.97 m.p.li. required under the rules of the National Aeronautic Association 61 America.
