ARAROA beaten Tuparoa United Cricket Club visited To Araroa last week-end and played the local team in a challenge match for the Duco Cup and also a Sheen Shield competition match; they returned with the Duco Cup and collected the major points in the competition. A very strong wind blowing down the wicket and long grass in the outfield helped to stop high scoring, but otherwise conditions were very pleasant. To Araroa were not strongly represented. and put Tuparoa in to bat first, a feature of their innings being another fine knock by Pera Hati, who scored 59 not out. He received excellent assistance from 13. Tuiieke, 21, 11. Tamihere, 10, and H. Rangiuia, 11, and the innings closed fur 145. Iv. Nordbcrg was Te Araroa’s best bowler and secured three wickets for 19 runs off 13 overs. Te Araroa’s first innings totalled 61. G. Box, 21, and K. Ball, 18, being very sound in defence. T,e Araroa followed on and went out for a hit, and were all dismissed for 43, P. Hati again distinguishing himself with two great catches. Scores:—
