Three houses adjoining at Farrell’s Crossing, about half a mile south of Huntly, were totally destroyed by fire shortly before midnight last night. The dwellings, each of five rooms, were occupied by Messrs. A. Black, A. Harlock, and H. Gainsfortl. The fire broke out in the. centre house, occupied by Mr. Harlock, and the flames spread so rapidly that the occupants, including children, had to make a hasty retreat in their night attire. There is no fire brigade in Huntly, and a bucket brigade was unable to check the flames.
