SHORT AND ILL-PAID
CAREER OF CHORUS GIRLS LONDON, Nov. 17. 'l'lio on veer of o chorus girl was dose ri bod us short and ill-paid at a mooting of tho British Actors’ Equity Association. Mr Lewis Casson, who visited Now Zealand last year, presided. It was decided to give chorus members two extra representatives on the equity council. Speakers pointed out that 10 years ago anybody intelligent and capable of a few steps was a dancer. To-day the efficiency of the girls in a West End chorus necessitated intensive training, for which the salary, £3 a week, was insufficient, as a chorus girl’s useful life was only between 16 and 30. Extra remuneration was urged.
