FOR SMUGGLING COIN
MYSTERY CYLINDER FALSE BOTTOM FOUND (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. It is officially disclosed that the famous mystery cylinder carried by the Marama has a* false bottom screwed in, and contains a sheet metal cylinder with flanges. Evidently it has been used for the transport of coin, being shipped backwards and forwards between New Zealand and Australia.
No silver coin was found in it when it was opened.
