RETURN TO ENGLAND
SLOOP VERONICA (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The sloop Veronica will h’jjve Auckland on February 2+ for England, via Suez. On arrival there it is likely that she will lie broken up. She whs at Napier when the earthquake occurred in 1931, and 'the work done there by her officers and men was later officially recognised. The sloop is manned by Imperial ratings who will return to England in her. She will be replaced next year by the Leith, an oil-burning vessel. The Laburnum, the Veronica *s sister ship, will be replaced in the first half of 1935.
