PRICES MAINTAINED WETHERS IN DEMAND (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. There was a large yarding in most classes at the Westfield sale. Bidding was keen and late rates wore maintained. The total number of beef cattle offered was 580 head, against 500 last week. Extra good quality ox was plentiful, selling under keen competition at last wcok’s price of 20s per lOOlbs, Fewer cows and heifers came forward, and values remained firm. Extra choice oxsold to 20s per lOOlbs., choice and prime 16s to 19s; prime young cow and heifer, 16s to 19s; ordinary eowj 12s to 16s; extra heavy prime steers made from £7 5s to £9 7s 6d; heavy prime, £7 to £8 2s 6d ; lighter prime, £6 to £7 ss; light prime, £5 to £6 12s 6d ; unfinished and small, £3 15s to £5 10s; extra heavy prime young cow and heifer, £5 to £6; heavy prime, £4 2s 6d to £5 ss; lighter, £3 to £4 10s; light, £2 10s to £3 10s; other killable cows, 25s to £2. 17s 6d. Sheep came forward in full numbers, and sold under keen competition. Primp, wethers sold well, but prime ewes tended to be easier. Prime wethers, shorn, made 19s to 27s 3d; unfinished wethers, shorn, 15s 6d to 21s 6d; prime ewes, shorn, 14s 9d to 17s; unshorn, 18s to 21s ; unfinished ewes, shorn. 9s 6cl to 13s i d ; hoggets, shorn, 16s to 245; unshorn, 13s to 25s 6d. Spring lambs made 9s 6d to 21s 6d.
l igs wore in full supply, and sold under keen competition. Porkers were in demand, but baeoners eased off as tho sale proceeded. Baeoners made 40s to 64s ; porkers 26s to 41s; large stores, 22s to 30s.
There was a full yarding ofl calves, but bidding was slack, resulting ip an appreciable drop in values. Runners made 38s to 75s and vealers 15s to 655.
