ADDINGTON SALES SHEEP PRICES ADVANCE CATTLE VALUES STEADY (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. There was an encouraging market for vendors at Addington to-day in ail the major sections. Competition was keen and substantial advances for store sheep and fat sheep on late rates were recorded. Store sheep.—-The entry was approximately 1000 head, including many Chatham Island lines. There was a' very , keen market, and a general advance averaging 2s a head. Good shorn ewe hoggets made 18s to 19s 4d; medium, to lbs; backward, to Lis 4d; half bred wether hoggets, 10s to Lis od; good crossbred wethers, 16s 9d to 17s (id; medium halfbred, 14s 4d to Ids lOd; ordinary ewes and lambs, all counted, 11s to 11s Sd. Fat iambs.—An entry of 900 head came forward. One freezing buyer, was operating for export. There was a steady market on the export basis of Till for twos. Extra prime heavy lambs made to 2Gs 4d; prime heavy, 20s lid to 245; medium, 17s to 20s; light, 13s Gel to 16s 6d. Fat sheep.—The entry totalled 3800 head, the Chatham Islands being represented, and values advanced from 2s to 3s a head. Prime heavy wethers made to 23s Od; prime mediumweight, 21s to 235; ordinary, ISs to 20s 0d; light, Ids Od to 17s Od; prime heavy ewes, 22s Od to 24s Od; prime medium weight, 19s to 225; ordinary, 10s Od to 18s 0d; light, 13s to 16s. Fat cattle. —Included in the entry of 415 head were SO head from the North Island of exceptional quality. ■Sixty head from the North Island in one consignment averaged £ll 10s a head. The market was firm. Best beef made 22s to 25s per 1001 b; good, 18s to 21s; heavyweight, 10s to 20s; medium weight, 12s Od to 15s; rough down to 10s. Extra prime heavysteers sold at up to £l3 17s Od; prime heavy, £9 to £11; prime medium weighty £8 to £9 10s; ordinary quality, £5 10s to £7 .10s; light, to £5; extra prime heifers, to £S 7.s Od; prime, £5 10s to £7 10s; medium, £3 10s to £5; light, to £3 ss; extra prime cows, to £9 2s Od; prime, to £0 os; medium, £3 to £4 Ills; light, to £2 15s. Fat pigs.—There was a good entry, but the demand was weaker because oi the drop of Id to ijd per ill in the export parity. Choppers made 30s to £3 0s; baeonors, 40s to Us Od; heavy, 47s 0d to 52s Od; extra heavy, to 59s od—average price per lb, -Id to 4ld; porkers, 20s Od to 29s Od; heavy-, 32s Od io 35s Od—average price per lb, 4d to sd.
