BRISBANE SALES

KEEN COMPETITION

(Received Sept. 13, noon.) BRISBANE. Sept. 13. It is generally agreed that tho opening rates were maintained at yesterday’s wool sales. The, offering of 12,369 bales was practically cleared under keeh competition. The Japanese, who held off the first day, were active, and Bradford, French and German buyers • also were bidding vigorously. The highest price for greasy was 21 Id, and for scoured 33d, for 14 and five bales respectively.

The Bank of New Zealand has been advised by its Janidou office that the prospects for the next series of London sales, commencing on September 19, are, favorable for all classes of wool. It is generally expected that merino will be Ljd to 2[l, line crossbred Id to l£d, and medium and coarse crossbred' |d to hi dearer than last sales.
