With tho club able to get back to its down-stream course, public interest will again be stimulated. The building of the new bridge will help the club greatly by enabling crews to get .out much earlier. "The congratulations of the club are. due to the Napier club in winning the L.V.A. In this connection I would especially mention the Wairoa Band, which played gratuitously. "Our club was represented at the championship regatta and in registering one second (maiden fours) and a third (10 stone maidens) 1 feel tliat we did very well. Mr. F. 11. Jones, ail ex-mernber, congratulated the club on its strong! position, with not one outstanding subscription, and a good balance at the bank. Several of the, young men were anxious to do some sailing, and be suggested that the club might help them to get their own boats. The bout lie suggested was one of the Cornwall Cup t-vpe, a 12ft. Gin. “flattie,” which should not cost more than £lO, and any person could make his own. Messrs. Gay, Gilligan, and Wallis strongly endorsed the suggestion, the chairman stating it might be inaugurated as a branch of the sport of rowing, with headquarters at the shed. The club lie thought, would be favorable to the idea. Mr. T. Lambert, speaking as an old yachtsman, thought Mr. Jones was making a good suggestion. The general churus of visitors 'was: "Where are all the boats?” Hu thought it was time Wairoa developed her scenic, assets, and one of these was the river, on which many fine regattas (with inferior craft) were held 50 years agio. Messrs. Wallis, Burridge, Hardie and Pert also favored the suggestion, Mr. I’ert moving that the matter be referred to the incoming committee, and this was carried. The chairman thanked Mr. Jones for bringing up the matter of co-operating with this club to form a sailing club. It was decided to open the season on October 23, nominations to close on September 16, each crew to be allotted its task, and no one to Ik; allowed to take a boat out until everything is all right. It was decided that every member must pay 5s before the first race of the season and the balance before the second race, the subscription to be the same as for last season.

A member moved a recommendation that the incoming committee should spend some of the money on hand on a new shed. The chairman said the matter had been dealt with, the idea being to take advantage of the building scheme subsidy, hut that would be all oif by Tuesday, and there was no time to get out plans and specifications. The matter was referred to jLlie incoming committee. Mr. ('rarer moved that the Olympic Council be written to asking tor a grant of £ICO to put the shed in order. This was carried. Mr. Wallis suggested they should provide a dance hall floor at the new shod, as that would hell) the finance.

A vote of thanks was passed to Mr, A K. Crane for a donation to the club. Mr. Trewlv moved a recommendation that the committee consider issuing, as an incorporated society. Cl debentures, to be covered bv the rentals of the dance hall. On the motion of Mr. Scott, it was left to the committee to mark the secretary’s services bv the payment of an honorarium. Mr. Pert said this was quite unnecessary; it would lie better to use tlie money on the new shed. It was decided to hold the usual dance on the opening night. The question of appointing a repair sub-committee was left to the committee

A vote of thanks to the press, and to the ehairmnn for presiding, closed tiie meeting.
