match play commenced " :V, V 1: : ■ WEEK-END VISIT TO WAIROA Match'play in the Poverty Bay Golf Club’s second A and B‘ tournament was commenced at the Awapuni links on Saturday afternoon, but not all the games irt the first round were completed. A bogev match was played in conjunction with the match play, and the best cards handed in were as follow.—C. 0. Hansen and R. J- M. Reynolds, ail square; R. Gray, H. A. Martin, and G. M. Reynolds, 1 down; G. I. Parker and E, T. Brosnahan, 2 down; H. B. Tyerman and G. C. Clifton, 3 down: C. G. Frazer, 4 down. .The Poverty Bay club’s annual visit to- W«iroa was paid during the weekend, ,a team of 26 golfers making the journey and being successful by a fair margin. The weather was ideal for golf, and the visitors were most hospitably entertained by the Wairoa club, the day proving a most enjoyable one. A team from the Wairoa club will pay a return visit to Gisborne the week-end after next. ' HUTCHINSON CUP FINAL The Hutchinson Cup final was played on the Poverty Bay Golf Club’s links on Saturday afternoon, and was won by EL Jenkinson, who beat B. S. Bree, 2 and 1. This is the second occasion on jrhich. Jenkinson has won this trophy.
