Maude received four strokes from Gregory, but played consistently well and hardly required his advantage. The afternon was hot, with only, am occasional light. breeze., > ? Gregory won the third after extricating himself from the rough with a good drive, while Maude, hit a short, one from the front of a briar-bush. Gregory was stymied at the fourth hole after getting the of the drives, and the hole was halved in four. G Butters and E; Boss, 2 up. M. A. Black and J.- McGregor, 1 up. Becently the Cambridge Gelf Club lost its clubhouse through fire, this, coming at the approach of a, new: season, being a severe blow. Now; however, a fine sporting gesture has been made by the Rotorua Club in. the form, of a substantial financial donation toward the erection of a new clubhouse.
