ATHLETIC CONTESTS

PROFESSIONAL MEETING NEW YEAR’S PROGRAMME Tho first truck meeting of the new your was held by the Poverty Pay Professional Athletic and Cycling Club last, evening on the Victoria Domain, with a good attendance of tho public. Many of the runners who had entered for the respective events were unable, for one reason or another, to take their places in the fields, and as a result, the running section was weak, and one event, the Halfmile Flat Handicap, bad to be postponed, while another, the relay race for tho Bradley miniatures, was carried forward for decision at a future meet.

There were some close finishes registered in those contests which did eventuate, however, and the final of the Ladies’ 100yds Flat Handicap was so closely contested that the judges had difficulty in making their awards.
