The weather still continues good for the shearing and for hay-making operations The gardens are not suffering to any extent for lack of rain, and many of them are a pleasing sight just now. Mackay, Black street. —Mr. It. S. Paterson, of the legal firm of Messrs. Sandenian and Chamberlain, has been admitted to the Wairoa Hospital. His many friends wish him a speedy recovery from his illness.

Saturday next may he reckoned a fateful day for Wairoa, when the shareholders in the Wairoa Meat Company are to meet to decide on the proposed sale of the works. Mr. L. T. Powdrell has called a meeting of farmers, shareholders and others interested in the operation of works in the district to meet in the Borough Chambers at 10 a.in. the same day.
