ECONOMISTS’ COMMITTEE
NOT TO REASSEMBLE (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Government has not yet given consideration to the question of calling tlie Economists’ Committee together again. . , . An announcement to this effect was made by the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes when asked questions on the subject today. Mr. Forbes pointed out. that the committee, after its meetings early in the year, had given an answer in the direction of a high-pegged exchange, but (his course, was not suitable to the banks. The question of calling the committee together again was one which might be considered, but unless the economists could agree upon some other remedy than a high exchange rate it would be little use in summoning them.
