Shark oil is being produced in small quantities at Kuimaumau, near the Awanui Heads, and for this there is a ready market in Auckland. A special meeting of the Gisborne Fire Board was to have been held to-day to pass a resolution to enable the board to apply to the Local Government Loans Board for a loan of £2OO to strengthen the five station. Tt. was reported, however, that a technical point had not been complied with in announcing the date of the meeting, and it was decided to hold Hie special meeting in a fortnight’s time. The work required at the fire station is reinforcement with steel rods and the repairing of cracked internal partitions.
