INVERNESS CASTLE
IN DANGER WHEN WALL FALLS LONDON, Oct. 80. The collapse of part of a wall erected in the reign of Malcolm Can more, the eleventh-century Scottish king, has imperilled Inverness Castle, now tbe administrative headquarters of tin: 1 county. The hill on which Hie castle stands lias been the site of fortifications for at least 1000 years.
The collapse occurred shortly after three o’clock in the morning, when 2000 torus of earth and rubble suddenly swept, down the precipitous incline to sleeping Castle street below. Tho Church of Scotland mission hall was engulfed, and parts of several dwelling houses torn away. The inhabitants rushed into tlie street in tlicir nightclothes.
