WORKS POLICY ADOPTED
AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. The City Council adopted the works committee's recommendations regarding capital works. The Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, said that during the last two years the council had expended a considerable sum on No. 5 scheme. The men had received rationed work, but nobody would contend that the rate of pay was adequate to keep a wife and family. Matters would never be improved unless the Government or the council came out with a policy giving additional work and wages.
