THE PANAMA CANAL TORRENT OF FLOOD WATER (Elec. Tot. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Nov. 80, 11. a.m.) BALBOA, Canal Zone, Nov. 20. The Panama < anal was closed to traffic early 10-dav as Li of the (latum dam spillway gates stood open to pass a torrent of flood water from the rampaging Chagres River. It was the find time in history that so many flood gates were swung wide, only 12 having-boon opened during the great Hood of .1923. Officials said the crest was reached at 4 p.ni. on Monday, but t'here was n possibility of a greater rise because of storm conditions on the Atlantic side continuing.
