RUSH OF WOOL

NAP USE'S SECOND SALE

GISBORNE’S POSITION

Napier wool stores are at present coping with a big rush of wool. The catalogue of 50,000' bales for toe first sale was tilled last week, according to advice received in Gisborne, and brokers are now turning their attention to wool lor the January sale. 1 u the ordinary course of events,. the catalogue for the first Napier sale, which will be held next Tuesday, would have closed to-morrow, but the limit was reached a week before the scheduled dosing date. The catalogue, it is believed, includes a fair quantity of Gisborne wool, both of this season and last season’s shearing. It also appears as though the January sale allocation will be tilled very early, for large quantities of wool ave arriving from all parts of the district and from. Gisborne as well, of (lie Gisborne clips are being shipped, [but many of the clips from the southern end of the. district are being sent by lorry direct to Napier. The entry of wool into the catalogues

is governed by the order of receipt at Napier. This was pointed out lay a representative of a Gisborne brokerage firm to-day, and he said that if Gisborne growers were desirous of having their wool offered at Napier during the season they should dispatch it immediately the wool is available. Once there, they could make their decision a,s to when it was to be offered, and if they wished to catch an early sale they would he in a good position to do so. It must be. remembered that Gisborne wool could not be catalogued unless tbo fleece was actually in Napier. Gisborne wool has been coming into the local stores steadily, although not with the same rash as was experienced last summer, which was line with practically no break from the commencement of shearing to the conclusion near Christinas. Most of the shearing lias been completed in the district. Entries are coming in rapidly for the Gisborne sale of wool oddments, skins ami hides. A large offering is expected, particularly of skins. The sale will bo held on Friday of next week. The first wool sale of the season in ■New Zealand will he held at Auckland to-morrow night. It was originally fixed for Friday. The offering is one of 28.000 bales, although brokers sought to increase it to 30.000 1 bales in view of the large amount of wool offering. LONDON WOOL SALES (Elec. Tel.
