RETURNS FOR THE YEAR INCREASE IN DEPOSITS (Received November 29, 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 29. Commonwealth Bank deposits on cheque paying accounts increased by £7.153,000 to £306.889,000 in the year ended September 30. Fixed deposits were* £7,071,000 higher at £218,278.000. Advances decreased by £17,879.000 to £257,589,000, the ratio to total deposits falling from 92 to 83.94 per cent. Owing, however, to the financial accommodation afforded various Governments, advances and investments together totalled £346,563,000 at September 30, the ratio to deposits being 112.93 per cent.
