REGULATING SUPPLIES PROFITEERING ALLEGED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received November 29, 2i p.in.) LONDON, Nov. 28. In the House of Commons, Dr. E. L. Burgin, in answer to questions, said the meat trade was fully alive to the desirability of regulating the. flow of meatto the British market, and was working with that object in view. He was not aware that meat importing firms would make an additional profit, estimated at £600.600. out of the meat quota scheme by (he rise in the price of stocks held in Britain. The Government did not propose to take, steps to limit the profits of monopolistic importers of South American meat. Mr. P. Hurd asked whether Mr. MacDonald was aware that the currency differences were tending to nullify the benefits of Ottawa to Canada and other parts of the Empire, and whether Britain would call an early conference with the Dominions on tho subject. Mr. MacDonald said there was no reason to believe that such a conference would be effectively received. No request for it had been received from the Dominions.
