“SMITHY’S” PROPOSALS LANDING AT NEW PLYMOUTH SYDNEY, Nov. 28. In connection with the proposed flight across the Tasman >Sea ia the Southern Cross, Sir Kingston! Smith announces that he will land at New Plymouth on January 14 or 15. His co-pilot and navigator .will be Captain P. G. Taylor. Weather permitting, the Southern Cross will take off from Sydney at 2 a.m. ou January 14, arriving in Now Plymouth about 4 o’clock in tho afternoon. Owing to the extra load of petrolenough for 20 hours, though the flight is expected to take only about 12 —it lias been decided to take off from Geringong Beach instead of from the aerodrome at Richmond.

Preparations are being made at New Plymouth to handle tho huge crowd that is expected to gather, and also to look after the 30 or so machines which are expected 1o arrive from all parts of New Zealand.

Though it. was originally intended to ship the Southern Crbss back to Australia, Sir Charles has now decided to fly both ways.
